Hello everyone and longtime no see :hrmm:

As some of you know I used to be an avid MS screenshotter and devoted my time from 2004 until my departure around three years ago.

Now as I said I started in 2004 and was mesmerized by the screenshots I saw on this site.  I bought the sim and was hooked from the very beginning.  It took some time to get to know the sim and how to use it and to make better screenshots and by god I spent a lot of time perfecting my they look.

My first ever screenshot

Now when FSX came out I was in full swing and knew the sim in and out.  Now FSX was a bit of a letdown but still there was something about it that was cool.  It felt very heavy and rugged but I still saw the potential and was happy to make the change.  3rd party developers saved the sim and everyone knows that.

And the final moment

Now comes the part where I start about Microsoft flight.  Now I downloaded it today so my time is limited but still enough to base my short review on.

I can right away see many positive changes on the engine but at the same time it feels like they forgot about the sim part.  Feels like a kit car if that makes any sense.  You got the look but its lacking the soul.  I also feel a bit pissed off due to Microsoft going all in on the cash cow and asking for huge amounts of money just for amateur made add-ons.  I was going to buy some credits but feel short as it was way too complicated for me as a none US citizen to buy credits.  So I feel like an outsider.   What scares me the most is that they seem to be pushing the 3rd party developers out the window and that for me is the same as killing the franchise.

First screenshots MS flight and most likely the final moment.

Do I want back in ? No absolutly not.  Microsoft flight was made with the dollar sign in mind and not the comunity.  Do I think it will change for the better ? No because 3rd party companies are out and so am I unfortunatly.  Its a sad day for me as I love the product but equily and even more I have loved the add-ons.

Best regards
Siggi

The credibility of your "review" was poisoned by the above comment. You would be astonished were you to know who actually created the aircraft and scenery. Did you even bother to check the very long list of Credits? Hint: no "companies" are named, only the individuals from a few of the better known and respected "payware" houses.

Those are some outstanding and very artistic screenshots though!

Regards to my comment I would like to refere to this video,  What ever the name is on the credit this is not up to standard and is amature.

I think we can all agree: FSX on the Microsoft Flight engine would be perfect. And I would easily pay Microsoft a well-deserved price for it.

Of course you'd use the one video that was quite deliberately created to mock Flight. BTW, the aircraft featured (ICON A5) really is that simple. It's the next generation of LSA (Light Sport Aircraft), and is in the process of being certified, with first deliveries scheduled for late this year. ~$140,00 delivered. I placed my deposit last year at Airventure 2011 (Oshkosh).
http://www.iconaircraft.com/

It's also evident that you never bothered to look any deeper than the first few minutes, so really don't have a clue about the actual depth of Flight, nor have you seen the Maule or the Vans RV-6A aircraft, which have full IFR capabilities.

I can see that I'm wasting my time checking this website and forum.

Mr. Palmason back from the dead  B)  Liked the small review, and especially liked the shots.  It's unfortunate that it's not an open sim like the past franchises, as they are definitely improvements in the graphics.  Oh well, long live FSX and all the sweet sweet add-ons  :hrmm:

Im not that good of a pilot but im pretty sure that "full IFR" has nothing to do with the fact that the airplain " not matter what it costs " is flying with out the usage of a well known thing called gravity or " well how to I put it " every rule of aerodynamics ? Did that make any sense ?  Im sorry that others oppinion is a waste of time for you :hrmm:

Thanks everyone for your comments :(

Those who know me know that I love the sim and everything about it and I take pride is disliking it as I have that right after loving everything they have done so far.  Sometimes LOL B)

I agree with Bill. I gave this place some time to see if the immature attitude of hate would cool down around here, but apparently not. Flight has a lot more realism than some people realize. It's not the MSFS we all know and love, but it's a step in the right direction. At least they have not abandoned the flight simulation genre completely. Flight is a chance for them to start fresh, and if the demand is there, eventually open up more to the hard core simmers. The real start ups, checklists, VORs, and realistic flight dynamics are proof that this is not meant to only appeal to gamers. You can complete full IFR procedures and not earn a single achievement or award if you want.

Enjoy what is actually there. Microsoft has lots more on the way from what it sounds like. (Alaska is the next DLC area) The Maule, Hawaii, and P-51 are priced very well, considering you can get a SINGLE aircraft or airport add-on for FSX for like $30-40. The highly detailed Hawaiian Island pack comes with the IFR capable RV-6A for only about $20. Try finding the same thing for FSX for that price. (and try and get the new fog, water, and shadows, too...yeah, that will happen...)

its only $20 for hawaii. So $20 for one state.  USA pack is $1000.  Seems affordable.

Man, this is not a simulator. It isn't. If you want to play it feel free, but that doesn't mean we have to praise it because you think we should like it....^^that alone should make you lose faith in this..$20 for a STATE. OF ISLANDS. HOW IS THIS ACCEPTABLE TO YOU?! lol

Exactly. Potential, sure, it can only get better when it starts of this bad! The problem with flight is I can't actually find anything to do in the free flight mode???
