> Low polygon model?

In a FS2004 aircraft model, how many polygons are most common?

Is 5000 polygons considered as low-polygon model, as AI, or is that much for an FS2004-aircraft.

Any average? ^^

Payware can be anything up to 150,000 or so.

Around 2500 is normal for a good AI model.

Have a look at these pages from AI Aardvark's site.

The Default aircraft have about 5000 polys. It works well enough for thr AI. Bur the classic aircraft have about 12000 each because they don't need to be AI.

Thanks to both! I'll have a look at those links.

For modelling, is Gmax better than 3ds Max?

3DMax is the more powerful tool, but if you are only making models for use in games, rather than for scenes that you intend to render, then 3DMax has about 80% of content you are never going to use.

Much better. laugh.gif

GMAX is freeware; it's no longer being supported, but is still available for download at turbosquid.com. 3dsMax is GMAX on steroids -- about 80% of it is superfluous for creating FS9 aircraft models, and the purchase price is slightly below US$3,500.00 cool.gif

Thanks for the replies!

I've heard that Gmax is alot easier too when you are new to modelling, so I'll start with that.

The thing is that I've got 3DS Max from school, it's installed on every computer in my classroom, so I don't have to pay to be able to use it.

I'll get Gmax and I hope you guys will be as helping when I need some serious help as you were here! =)
