Alot of people are joining this forum these days, and that is wonderful! But when new guys take screenshots they are often quite bad because of somethings.
I am going to take up some screenshot basics for you new guys who want to take, and post screenshots in a good way that is fast and easy. Step 1. First of all, you should get a good screenshot-capture program. It helps you to take screenshot in good qualitys in a fast way. Some good programs that you can use are: Screengrab YAFscreen GrabClipSave FSScreen Step 2. Start FS9! Chose a nice plane and take her up for a spin. Why don't make a long flight? When you're up in the air, zoom in to a pleasant view of the plane, in a nice angle, and then press Print Scr. If your program says anything else, do as it says. Remember that nightshots might be hard to take because of all the darkness. It is hard to get a good nightshot. Step 3. Now you should have some shots to show off here! Choose out the best, or just take them all, and then check the filesize of them. The maximum filesize that can be uploaded onto this forum is 256 kb, so make sure that the shots doesn't override that limit. Another thing you should check before you upload the shots is the size of the picture. This time I mean the width and height. In most screenshot programs you can preset the size you want the images to be in, but if you can't do that on yours, I'll tell you how to do. A good start is to know how big you want the shot to be. The standard here is 800x600 pxl. If your shot is bigger than that, you have to resize it. You can resize a picture either in Photoshop or with a powertoy from Windows if you don't have PS. In PS: Help->Resize Image->Online And if you don't have PS, download this: Image Resizer Powertoy Install it. Rightclick on the imagefile you want to resize, select Medium (800x600) and click OK. Thats it, you have now resized your image. Step 3. Now you want to upload your shots to the forum. Do it this way: 1. Click on the link in the "New Topic" window called "Have multiple images to upload? (limit 30 per post) 2. Locate you shots, select, and click "Upload Image". When uploaded, click "Insert to post for me". Then it's done! Hope you new guys find this information useful. Cheers, Scandy This post has been edited by Byron: Mar 16 2005, 11:39 AM |

Uhhh, the quality is much higher when saving as a BMP, it lowers when saving as a JPEG, but BMP's are not allowed on the server, because of their size

Hmm, how does it come that all the .BMP shots looks like they had bathed in acid and not the .JPEG?

Yes, but I didn't have a clue that .BMP had better quality...
Anyhow, a screenshot should be saved in .JPEG IMO. |

Hey guys,
Save your pictures in .png and you won't lose quality! Also, I have a picture gallery with more than enought space if you want to host your pics and it accepts every picture format except bitmap. http://www.maverick.rchomepage.com Click on the picture link on your left! |

Nice topic, thank you I will get one of the screenshot programs. But what you said about BMP files is completely wrong. The best quality is the BMP file, and the quality goes down when you compress it to JPG. You should correct that in your topic. |

Yeah, I have realised that now. The only thing is that you can't edit the topic... that is what it seems to be like anyway..

Highly recommendable program:
http://www.ovosoft.nl/snapper/ Has the normal options many programs due, like cropping and grayscale and size etc, but what's cool about this one is you can put it on your system tray (like grap clip and save) and you can set it to put your altitude, location in text in the pic |
