Hello, first of all i would like to wish everybody a happy new year. The main reason I started this post was to ask you all if you can recommend any interesting flights. By interesting I mean: difficult approaches, excellent views or one that you found enjoyable.
Thankyou in advance Andy This post has been edited by andrew19882000: Jan 1 2004, 11:10 AM |

1st - Key West (KEWY) Difficulty Level: Please don't hurt me
Runway is about 4800ft long and can be difficult for 737 or larger jet to land. Then try to take off fully fueled. 2nd - Meigs (KCGX) Difficulty Level: Bring em' on! Don't remember how long the runway is, but I think it's shorter than Key West. Try takeoffs and landings with jets here. 3rd - Shemya (PASY) Difficulty Level: Hurt me plenty! A Naval Air Station in the Aleutians. Every time I go there the weather is terrible. Bad visibility and very strong winds, especially this time of year. Could be perilous for jets. 4th - Aspen (KASE) Difficulty Level: Hardcore An excellant locale to try fully fueled takeoffs and landings with 737 and larger jets. Bad weather conditions make it more exciting as the mountains jump up and try to hit you. 5th - Rio Amazonas (SESM) Difficulty Level: Nightmare Hidden away in the mountains of Ecuador. I've heard that the real airport is not really like this, but the boys at Microsoft did a good job at making this place inaccessible to just about anything but helicopters. If you can takeoff and land a 747 here, you'll have the praise of all! I know there are some difficult, high altitude places in the Himalaya Mountains of Nepal. I wanted to post a list with jets in mind, not props. Have fun! |

I recommend 2. VHHX and BLI. BLI is in a hole so watch out, and VHHX, try not to land in the water, and try the one from the moutain side so you gotta turn in. Fun.

It's not a difficult flight by any means but KSEA to PANC (Seattle to Anchorage) has some great views.

Have you seen "Air America"? With Mel Gibson and whoever...
They landed in a 45 degree angle runway in Vietnam... (uphill) I think it is like 200 feet long in a single-engine prop... I wonder if they make FS2004 runway like that??? That woud be challenging |

Bad weather conditions make it more exciting as the mountains jump up and try to hit you. but microsoft hasn't done the best job at aspen. look at the ils-glidescope, where it is...... it's a glidescope for kamikaze-landings |

I never use ILS because I could never get it to work right. Maybe I just don't have the patience, but I guess you could say I've become ILS intollerant.
All landings are manual stick & rudder. |
